Will this be enough?

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

OK, it s starting to look serious. The economic outlook has been poor for a while now but a number of people, including me, have been suggesting that if we can steady our nerves all will be well. There was a rate cut last week and no doubt others will follow. Then this happens. The Government, bless them, plan to help the banks by converting some of their mortgage debt into Government bonds. This might have been a good idea a while ago but it has to be pointed out a similar move has done very

Education transformed
In a bland McCain commercial touting his willingness to listen to everyone s ideas and thereby achieve utopia, the announcer says education transformed over the image of a house. There s a quick flash of a child reading to an adult in a living room. It sure looks homeschooling. Well, maybe not. The house is illustrating mortgage debt restructured, and the child could be reading in a classroom. That house led me astray.

The amount of money being paid by the taxpayertreasury to bail out the banking system as a whole is spiraling rapidly. That is to say, the taxpayertreasury is underwriting debts that the market won t touch, but everyone currently insists they re good and we ll be repaid. Today it s reported that the taxpayertreasury, through the Bank of England, will buy up dodgysoun

Obama wasn t all wrong, By Doug Thompson
Hold on to your hats, political fans. I m going to defend Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. I m going to criticize him too, but the average will still be an improvement over my usual scorn. Obama said: You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successi
